We all need some normalcy here, today was a nice normal day. Little woke up hungry and wanted some Mama time. We made smoothies, hung out and watched a movie together. Getting back to the basics is just what we need here.

more than a flesh wound
5 measly stitches to sew my skin back together; a little flesh wound;
my soul on the other hand will take a lot more to repair.
3 imaging scans,
2 trips to interventional,
1 OR visit later,
it's back;
the cancer is back, my heart hurts.
All I can do is have faith.
our future
I had to sit down with my little today and explain that things were about to change, that life as we knew it would be different. I had to explain that there were bad cells that moved into my knee and that Dr. Parker would need to take me to the OR in October and take my leg. A leg for a life, that is a sacrifice I am willing to make.
before it all changed
looking back
This was our last normal outing. I had this weird feeling in my stomach today, I took my little out before I headed back to Gainesville, we went and played and splashed and loved. I couldn't help but shake this weird feeling.

child of a cancer patient
You can always tell the kids who are used to being shuffled from doctors appt to doctors appt. That is my kid. He easily acclimates to sitting in a waiting room and will wait upwards of an hour or two without a complaint. Sucks for him, I hate that he is used to it but I am thankful.

road tripping with my favorite
My sweet boy and I made the long hike from Alabama back to Florida today. We found some great stops along the way. I love exploring with him, I hope he grows up with a sense of wonder and adventure in him.
alabama
My most favorite person in the world lives in Alabama, I had the pleasure of taking my sweet boy up there for 5 days or so to spend the week with them. Here are some favs from the trip.
Motherhood is (that eye shape)
Motherhood is that sweet happy smile, those sun kissed cheeks and that eye shape which perfectly matches mine. I took this on Saturday after we spent 7 hours on the beach and in the pool, 7 hours of laughing and playing, 7 hours of being your Mama.
4 days ago we took off on a two week adventure. We headed to Naples as a family for 3 days, then you and I head to Gainesville for 3 days, then Alabama for 5 days and back to Gainesville for another 3 days. Before we set off on this trip you were being a bit of a challenge, I think you missed me and I was being short and snappy because I was tired and missed you. We need this trip to reconnect.
Thank you for being my future, thank you for being my heart, thank you for being you.

beach favorite
We spent the weekend at the beach as a family. I took too many pictures as always, I'm just going to include some of my favorites. I'm lucky to have a way to document the happiness that my heart feels.

Thank you to the City of Oakland Park for putting on such an awesome event. Little man LOVED it!
late night
I went out with a bunch of people from work tonight. We had a great time supporting one of our own and raising money for Make a Wish, on the way home I noticed a storm just off shore. I decided to stop by my favorite beach to see if I could capture some images of it.
