There is an awesome photographer group I'm a part of, it's called self portraits of motherhood. It is an amazing group of woman who all encourage one another to get into the frame with their kiddos. We all know I'm a huge believer of this, because our story is important and more often than not we are ours families glue. With all that being said, let me show you through my life during a day.
Hubby had left for work, Tiny was awake in his playroom and I was just waking up--as soon as everyone realized Mama was up the day began.
Here we go, dressed, glasses and headband on:
We have made a plan to work hard at learning his letters this summer, he starts VPK in the fall and I want him to at least have letter recognition and maybe even be able to write his capital letters out. We are spending 3 days in a row on each letter. He is doing great but damn it's hard. I'm not sure I would be successful at home schooling--kudos to you Mamas that rock it.
Once a week my sweet boy and I bake. He loves it and so do I. I try super hard to only bake on days that I head into the hospital for work because I do not want those delicious goodies tempting me!
My best friend and I are connected on some super, hard to explain level because as I'm finishing up the brownies I got this text saying she finished her workout.
Needless to say, now my plan involved working out after we did dishes and pulled the brownies out of the oven, damn her and her making my conscientious, lol. Anyways, we try to always have fun even when it comes to cleaning up the dishes.
Brownies are baking, smelling delicious and I decided now would be a good time to get some editing done because I knew I'd be bogged down and overwhelmed after shooting all day. Tiny headed to his playspace and I pulled out my laptop.
Since I got that text earlier I decided I needed to do a workout also. Ha, has anyone tried working out with their preschooler on the loose?! It's a hot ass mess, but I did it anyway.
Post workout snack.
I needed a quick bath before I headed out with Tiny because I have to work tonight. Does anyone actually bathe/shower alone?
Almost 4 years post the birth of my favorite boy and this is what I'm left with. It grosses me out most the time but honestly, it is what it is--it grew my favorite human.
After we got all dressed we headed to Costco to meet up with my Mom. Tiny gave his nap up about 2 months ago so he definitely gets sleepy this time of day but he usually pushes through it and still maintains a good mood!
When we got home from our little errand we were so excited to see that the mailman dropped off our new Harry Potter book that we have been stalking the mailman for ALL week. Originally the first book was lost so Amazon sent us a replacement, then the second book showed up so now we have two. It actually works out really well because I read one book and Tiny flips through the pictures on the other. He also asked to nurse during reading our book. He still nurses a couple of times a week, he'll eventually wean (hopefully soon) but until he does, we nurse.
After about an hour of reading and snuggling I needed to rest a bit before work tonight. Tiny is usually really good about letting me rest, I just try to set him up with something fun to do for a bit--today it was a table tent. He happily played in there for a bit over an hour while I laid down. I am so lucky he's so good and kind.
Daddy is home! My hubby and I joke that we are like ships passing in the night, he got home and something crazy like 8 minutes later I headed out the door to the hospital. Boo for us, I know one day we'll have better schedules but for now this works for Tiny and our family.
Colin is so funny when he walks me out, everyday he walks me to the car, hugs and kisses and then he asks me no less than 1/2 dozen questions as I pull out of the driveway, lol.
Anyone up for a healthy snack on the way to work? How about a bowl full of homemade guacamole and diet mountain dew?!
Now most Mama's day is winding down but mine is winding up. I work overnight as a pediatric ER nurse, let the fun begin!
It's now 7am and my day is about to wind down, 24 hours after it started. Leaving the hospital for my 40 minute drive home.
Someone is up waiting for me to come home. This boy is always so happy. I am so lucky! I get the best welcome home!
8 am and my day is done until I head back to work tonight, time to snuggle up with my chihuahua for some sleep.
This was quite a challenge shooting from my perspective, including me in most of the images. It was awesome and I just love so many of these images. I am so thankful I buckled down and did this!
